The Academy is divided into two major sections: JUNIOR ACADEMY - open to boys and girls entering grades K-8 in the fall of 2008. The Junior Academy is a day camp that runs daily from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and instruction is focused on fundamentals and fun. SENIOR ACADEMY – open to boys, girls, and teams entering grades 9-12 in the fall of 2008. The Senior Academy is an overnight or commuter camp that is focused on advanced skill development and teamwork for high school players. A collegiate scouting service will be on hand to evaluate players. **A highlight of the Aspen Basketball Academy is a televised all-star game featuring the top 20 players in camp as selected by the camp coaches themselves. The game is broadcast by a local TV station with full color commentary and is available on DVD for anyone wanting a copy. It’s a great recruiting tool. Part of the tradition of the Aspen Basketball Academy is to bring in NBA and collegiate players and coaches as guest speakers. Past speakers have included Tim Duncan (San Antonio Spurs), David Robinson (San Antonio Spurs), Don Nelson (Dallas Mavericks head coach), Gregg Popovich (San Antonio Spurs head coach), Pat Garrity (Orlando Magic), Steve Fisher (San Diego State), Ceal Barry (University of Colorado), Charlie Spoonhour (UNLV), Sean Elliott (San Antonio Spurs), Chris Penrose (Team Capt. USC), and Robert Tomaszek (Texas Tech / Pro Player). This year’s camp will continue the tradition of high profile guest speakers as we will have several NBA and collegiate players and coaches on hand to speak to the campers.
